ReCO2ST demo sites’ news

London

Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP) have been installed on the London demo site as part of its ReCO2ST Retrofit-Kit.
A design competition was launched in February 2020 by Brunel University, seeking for design proposals that will turn the currently blank VIP surfaces into creative presentations that showcase ReCO2ST’s research. Moreover, this has given the opportunity to highlight the student community’s commitment to reducing energy usage across campus through increased awareness of green impact, recycling, water quality, and biodiversity. The competition ended on 9 March with the selection of the two winning proposals, one by a student from the wider university community and the second by the student residents of the building. The painting event will proceed as soon as the Covid19 restrictions are lifted.

Vevey

During the first week of April the case study in Vevey produced more than what the 17 families consumed in the building. 676 kWh, were produced and the building consumed 610 kWh; directly 314 kWh of solar electricity were consumed. 51% of electricity total consumption comes directly from local renewable production, and the other 49% is imported from the grid, completely compensated by the 54% of the produced solar energy that is exported to the grid when there is more production than consumption. For that week, the case study was electricity neutral and yearly speaking it is also expected that production will exceed the building’s consumption.

The ReCO2ST technologies to be installed are: Cooling Evaporative ventilated Façade, Cool roof paint, Vacuum Insulation Panels, Nature based system for indoor air treatment, Innovative AHU (IAHU), Concentrated PV (CPV)

Frederikshavn

We welcome a new building for the ReCO2ST demonstration in Frederikshavn. The initial demo building suffered from flawed foundation that resulted in its demolition. The new demo building consists of 58 apartments of 1 to 4 rooms and was built in the 1960s.
