Calling all budding designers, it’s the Clifton Hall Design Competition!
Are you a budding designer? Are you looking for an opportunity to showcase your talent? Are you concerned about energy sustainability? Then we want to hear from you!
Brunel University has partnered with European research project, ReCO2ST, which demonstrates how buildings can be renovated to ‘near zero energy’ and CO2 emissions. The project has developed a ‘Retrofit Kit’ that can be used to reduce energy consumption by bringing together a number of energy saving technologies.
One of these technologies is Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP) which can be found in action in staircase R of our demonstration building, Clifton Hall. As VIPs require extra protection, we now have two white panels on the outside of the building which we are looking to transform.
This is where you come in!
We are seeking two talented designers to turn these blank spaces into creative presentations that showcase ReCO2ST’s amazing research. We also want to highlight the student community’s commitment to reducing energy usage across campus through heightened awareness of green impact, recycling, water quality, and biodiversity.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to capture this vision, follow these simple steps to enter and be in with a chance of having your work brought to life:
• Create your design
• Write a 200-word description explaining your design
• Calculate an estimated budget of what it will cost to create*
• Send your design, description, and budget to maria.kolokotroni@brunel.ac.uk by Monday 24 February 2020 with ‘Clifton Design Competition’ in the subject line**
Representatives from the ReCO2ST project, Brunel University Residences and the Residences Ambassadors will judge all submissions and select two winners. The two successful designers will oversee the painting in March 2020 and ReCO2ST will attach plaques to accompany both designs when they are complete.
We look forward to your submissions and wish you luck!
